How to Add a Favicon to Squarespace

Squarespace calls favicons "Browser Icons". Upload one in site settings — Squarespace recommends at least 100x100, but 512x512 PNG looks best. Note the menu location differs between Squarespace versions (Design → Browser Icon vs Settings → General → Browser Icon).

Step 1 — Prepare your favicon

Generate a 512x512 PNG with the favicon generator. Squarespace accepts PNG, JPG, and GIF; only one favicon image is used.

Steps

  1. In Squarespace open Settings (the gear)
  2. Go to Design → Browser Icon (newer versions: Settings → General → Browser Icon)
  3. Click the icon box and upload your square PNG
  4. Crop if prompted, then click Save
  5. Verify it appears in your browser tab

Troubleshooting

  • Can't find the setting? Your version may use Settings → General → Browser Icon instead of Design.
  • Not updating? Hard-refresh and clear Squarespace's built-in cache.
  • Looks stretched? Squarespace uses one image — make sure your source is perfectly square.
